Questions before you start

Is the FBAR worksheet really free?
Yes, for an on-time year. You only sign in to download. Filing FinCEN 114 on BSA E-Filing is free too. The Catch-up packet for past years is $79.
What do I get?
An item-by-item worksheet in the order of the BSA E-Filing form: Part I and every account in Part II, III or IV. Each maximum balance is converted at the Treasury December 31 rate and rounded up, with the rate table, the $10,000 test, due dates, a filing checklist and a Form 8938 reminder.
Do you file the FBAR for me?
No. You copy the worksheet into BSA E-Filing and submit it yourself. It is due April 15, with an automatic extension to October 15.
What does the Catch-up packet add?
Every past year, a statement of reasons for the late-filing box, and notes on penalties. Read the late filing guide first if the IRS has already contacted you.
